Two Gentleman of Verona:
Two best friends, Proteus and Valentine, travel to Milan where they both fall in love with Silvia. Silvia loves Valentine, but Proteus pursues her despite the fact he has a girlfriend at home. After an apology, Proteus and Valentine reconcile, Proteus loves his girlfriend again, and both couples marry.
Director Chris O’Connorand I wanted to explore utilizing the whole space, bring the action of this love story into the audience. My main design concept was to use Shakespeare’s words of love told through graffiti. This ws inspired by a trip to Verona and Juliet’s Balcony, a tourist attraction in Verona Italy, where thousands of lovers leave notes to their beloveds.
Lucetta (Kelsey Roberts) describes the handsome Proteus.
Valentine (Matt Bitter) discusses their plans for love with Thurio.
Proteus (Woodrow Proctor) discuss loves folly with Lucetta (Kelsey Roberts)
Painting the underlaying colors before the graffiti was applied
Graffiti was applied by the cast. Phrases from all of Shakespeare’s plays and Sonnets were used to cover the floor and set pieces.

We wanted to capture the sense of architecture in Verona, Milan and the Duke's palace. I utilized the columns and Ivy to give us a sense of architecture within the space.
