Company by Stephen Sondheim

We chose this musical before the Sondheim’s death. It was a memorable and moving experience to produce one of the great playwright’s and composers work so close to his passing.

Company tells the story of Bobby, (Robert originally) who turns 30. Throughout the musical Bobby confronts what is to be single, coupled or married in the Big City. Originally written as traditional male/female relationships we, along with the Broadway revival, explored gay relationships as well as making Robert, Bobby, played by a female. This gave the show new meaning and a twist on what it means to be in a relationship, whether the same or opposite sex.
