  Dance Demo is held yearly at the end of Spring semester.  For many years it has been part of the dance classes final project and presented minimally under work lights.  I am interested in designing lighting for dance and seized on the opportunity to explore and have fun lighting the 15+ dance projects.  

  This was stressful due to the very short time frame I had to work with, but that also made it challenging and exciting.  The students appreciated having individual attention to their dance pieces.  This separated each dance from their peers and treated each dance as special and unique.  I enjoyed the creative process working with each student or group and coming up with lighting looks that fit the dance style and music chosen.

I look forward to lighting this again at the end of the semester.  The dance demo will develop into a freshman lighting student’s first project as we begin to include design and tech student’s for the new BFA.  This year I am working with a current student to install the lighting equipment, program the lighting looks and mentor him in designing three of the dances.
